This is a very good question.
You don’t need to be in crisis to try therapy. Are you feeling stuck, anxious or need space to talk and make sense of things?
Maybe you are feeling like you are having more “bad” days than good? Do you feel distressed a significant proportion of the time? Are you struggling to process things from your past or currently?
Overall, is this all impacting your day to day?
Booking a first session can help you figure out if therapy is the right way forwards, and I can explore this with you.

This is very common. Do not worry - I will do my best to make you feel at ease. Rest assured my approach is very informal. I will ask you questions about how you are feeling, what brought you here and how you would like things to be different. Please be somewhere you feel settled at home and know that we will always go at your pace.

This will depend on your symptoms and what you’d like to work on. On average, people tend to have around 12-15 sessions. However you may need more, you may need less. After our first two sessions, I can approximate how any sessions you may need and we can make a plan together. We will review halfway through and see how you are feeling.
-
Yes it is - I am bound by confidentiality so everything you say to me is private. The notes I make about our sessions are also stored on a confidential system. The only reason I would need to breach confidentiality is if there was a risk to yourselves or other people.
-
We will have a discussion together about this. We will make sure we have covered everything, and make a staying well plan to make sure you know what you are doing in the event of symptoms returning. You will have this to leave therapy with as a guide.
