Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a type of psychological treatment that helps people understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It’s based on the idea that unhelpful or negative thinking patterns can lead to emotional distress and unproductive behaviours and that by changing your thought process, you can change how you feel and act.
If our thoughts are anxious or unhelpful, it has a knock on impact on how we feel and in turn what we do. If our behaviour is unhelpful, it negatively influences our self perception and actions. Together, we identify unhelpful patterns and learn new skills to manage challenges more effectively. It’s not easy to break these cycles, or break habits of a lifetime, but it can be done; never suffer alone.
CBT is evidence and data driven, meaning it is scientifically proven to help with low mood and anxiety. With the right understanding and treatment, you can start living life the way you would like to. As well as a CBT approach, I am also able to offer techniques and skills from other therapies where appropriate.
